Among the whitefishes (cyprinid's)
there are a quite a lot species who at least make migrations from time to
time. Some of these species are to be presented here.
The whitefishes of our rivers are so-called potamodromous (within the
rivers) migrating species.
Migrations are being made in different lifestages. While growing up young
indviduals leave the flat waterzones into deeper waterareas. Often there is
a change between summer and winterhabitat.
Regularly there are spawningmigrations to appropriate spawningplaces. |
